UNIX1100-3 - Unix Shell Programming

Course Description: Prior Unix experience required either by having attended a Unix Fundamentals class or equivalent hands-on experience.

Requires knowledge of the Unix vi editor and basic shell command line syntax, including shell metacharacter interpretation (i.e. variable substitution, command substitution, file name generation, etc.).

Introduces students to the necessary skills used to create shell programs (scripts).

This course focuses on the Bourne shell (sh), the Korn shell (ksh) and the "Bourne Again" shell (bash).

Includes: Student Guide "Unix Shell Programming - 3-Day Version" by Walt Uotinen of Top Shelf Technologies with lab exercises and solutions as well as sample files.
